On Thursday 12 April Chamber Talks moderator Haydar Ergülen welcomed an İstanbul classic, Selim İleri, as part of the İstanbul Literature series. Naturally, the topic of the discussion was Selim İleri’s İstanbul…
Having won the Aydın Doğan Grand Prize with his latest book Yaşadığım İstanbul (The İstanbul I Live In), İleri constitutes a corpus of İstanbul Literature by himself; with eight books on the city, the author deserves to be named an “İstanbul classic.”
İleri, who admits to feeling like a “dinosaur” amidst the skyscrapers and “residences” of İstanbul, shared the culinary delights, coffee shops, patisseries, seasons, neighborhoods, streets, people, flowers, films, and writers of the İstanbul he experiences with all its intricacies and decorum.
Those who missed the meeting can watch it here (Chamber Talks are held in Turkish).
